When the End Meets the Beginning

Today is the day for you to stop looking back and run to me. I am your shelter. I am your peace. I have all that you need. My intentions and thoughts toward you are always good. Come and listen to the heartbeat of my heart for you. Rest in my presence. Lay down the heavy weights you are carrying at my feet. Take my burden. It is light because I will help you carry it. We’ll do this together. You’re praying for rest and strength. I’ll restore you day by day—your mind and your body. Listen for my wisdom day by day. One day at a time, we will move forward toward my expected end for you. Days of rest, peace, and abundance are ahead. That’s my heart. I will never fail you. Look ahead with hope and faith. You will step upon a mountain of peace and know that I am God. I am your strength, your joy, and your treasure.

Hoy es el día para que dejes de mirar atrás y corras hacia mí. Yo soy tu refugio. Yo soy tu paz. Tengo todo lo que necesitas. Mis intenciones y pensamientos hacia ti son siempre buenos. Ven y escucha el latido de mi corazón por ti. Descansa en mi presencia. Deja a mis pies las pesadas cargas que llevas. Toma mi carga; es ligera porque te ayudaré a llevarla. Lo haremos juntos. Pides descanso y fortaleza. Te restauraré día a día: tu mente y tu cuerpo. Escucha mi sabiduría cada día. Un día a la vez, avanzaremos hacia el futuro que tengo planeado para ti. Te esperan días de descanso, paz y abundancia. Ese es mi deseo. Nunca te fallaré. Mira hacia adelante con esperanza y fe. Te alzarás sobre una montaña de paz y sabrás que yo soy Dios. Soy tu fortaleza, tu alegría y tu tesoro.

Ibelisse Sánchez, known to most as Mimi, is a social worker, writer, and artist born in Brooklyn and shaped by her Christian faith and Puerto Rican heritage. Raised by her maternal grandparents David and Clara—an expressionist painter and a woman of deep hospitality—they modeled how to live a life of creativity and service. For fifteen years, she cared for them at home through Alzheimer’s and chronic illness, a season that profoundly deepened her faith in God and empathy for the suffering and those who care for them. She holds degrees from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, McCormick Theological Seminary, and the University of Chicago. After nearly a decade as a social worker facilitating incarcerated individual's reentry into society, she now helps people with disabilities gain greater mobility and independence in their communities.
